The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre and the space agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. Here, 8000 employees work together on a unique variety of topics in the fields of aeronautics, space, energy, transport, digitalisation and security. Their missions range from basic research to the development of innovative applications and products for tomorrow. Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels, who fully achieve their potential in an inspiring environment. Launch your mission with us.
For our DLR Institute of Data Science in Jena we are looking for a
The thematic focus of the DLR Institute of Data Science in Jena is on management, analysis and processing of big and heterogeneous data, IT-security, smart systems (Industry 4.0) and Citizen Science.
The Digital Production Platform group looks into systems to digitalize industrial processes, with focus at the development of spacecraft. We develop a platform to connect different software applications that are used to plan, produce and operate a spacecraft.
Satellite part product data is often transferred from suppliers to customers via PDF files or similar formats. This method requires human interpretation and is non-uniform across suppliers. To improve the situation, product data should be shared in machine-readable formats and be accessible via APIs.
As part of this master thesis project, the student will develop an application prototype that provides access to product data through an API. The API should provide the product data in a format that is compatible with existing standard (based on XML schema), while being able to represent the concepts modelled in the DLR provided star sensor ontology. The application prototype will be developed with state of the art software engineering processes.
Your thesis will be supervised by DLR and supported by Jena-Optronik as an industrial partner providing the application background for your work.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives.
