The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre and the space agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. Here, 8000 employees work together on a unique variety of topics in the fields of aeronautics, space, energy, transport, digitalisation and security. Their missions range from basic research to the development of innovative applications and products for tomorrow. Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels, who fully achieve their potential in an inspiring environment. Launch your mission with us.
For our Institute of system architectures in aeronautics in Hamburg we are looking for a
The Institute of system architectures in aeronautics models aviation as a complete system, from the transport system via the aircraft itself to the production of individual components. One building block in this overall system is the aircraft design. In aircraft design, novel aircraft concepts are developed, taking into account, among other things, market requirements.
In this work, a software tool will be developed further, which will enable the aircraft design to properly anticipate these market requirements. The scope of this work can be adapted so that it can be done either as an internship or as a bachelor or master thesis.
In any case, the topic is oriented on the following tasks:
- development of mathematical models, based on relevant scientific literature, to illustrate the decision-making behavior of travelers in the choice of transport
- setting up of test scenarios to compare the results of different models
- evaluation of the different models and final selection of most suitable model
- implementation of the models in Python
- visualization of the results in a clear and easy-to-understand manner
In addition, you are also welcome to contribute and implement your own ideas within this research area. Together with experienced DLR staff members, you can then help to better illustrate the interaction between the different subsystems in aviation.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (m/f/non-binary). Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
