Schwab) is operated by the Robert Bosch Foundation. Since its foundation in 1973, the institute has emerged as Germany's largest and most renowned scientific research unit in the field of clinical pharmacology. Main research activities concentrate on the influence of genetic, epigenetic, metabolic and non-genetic factors on variability of drug efficacy and their contributions to disease development. Currently, we are looking for a Post-Doc in Bioinformatics* The project will address complex bioinformatic analyses considering various aspects of cancer therapy and tumor cell biology. A close link to clinical aspects of cancer research is the ultimate goal. The group has extensive knowledge at the interface between bioinformatics, biostatistics, digital medicine, and computational biology. We are developing methods that allow answering important biomedical questions closely related to disease entities and therapeutic interventions, and optimize them in close contact with our excellent national and international biomedical partners. Prerequisites Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biometry, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or Computational Biology. Experience in data science and bioinformatic methods, advanced knowledge in Unix/Linux, strong programming/scripting skills (C/C++, R, Matlab, Python, JavaScript, Java) for complex data analyses are required as well as a strong publication record. Other relevant qualifications include: Experience with »omics» data analyses and interpretation (next-generation sequencing, transcriptomics, metabolomics) Background in Statistics and Bioinformatics Experience with the analysis of medical data (clinical data, molecular data, ...) Experience in data management (MySQL, NoSQL, ...) Excellent communication skills and fluency in English The applicants should have an interest in interdisciplinary work and knowledge in cancer biology and/or the adaptive immune system is a plus. We offer: The opportunity to work in an interactive team providing support and mentoring State-of-the-art equipment and technologies for a wide range of different applications (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) and expert knowledge within the different core facilities at the institute The opportunity to communicate scientific results at international conferences and to participate in workshops An initial contract for 2 years and flexible starting date (earliest starting date at June 1st, 2020) For further information, please contact Prof. Dr. Matthias Schwab (phone 0711-8101-3700) or Dr. Elke Schaeffeler (phone 0711-8101-3729).
