Role Expectations:
Support managing several projects at one time.
Adhere to ISO/TS 16949 or ISO 9001:2000, QS9000, VDA requirements.
Assist in actively identifying cost savings and promoting competitiveness through VA/VE methods, quoting, negotiating, etc.
Support managing the supply base internally and intra companywide through commodity team participation.
Support managing start-ups through available planning tools.
Assist in directing and developing direct reports.
Essential Functions:
Help investigate and shadow Buyers in the process of selecting sources in a timely manner through effective use of policies, procedures, and planning tools.
Gain knowledge of the worldwide supply base using ISO/TS 16949, VA/VE methods and other measurements.
Assist in tracking costs, negotiate and maintain agreements with suppliers.
Assist Buyers by ensuring that Scheduling Agreements, Purchase Orders, and other pricing policies are maintained and up to date.
Help explore methods/materials for total cost management, quality system conformance, and on-time delivery performance.
Work on a timely basis to assist meeting corporate and plant purchasing goals.
Work in cross-functional teams operating in a fast-paced environment.
Assist in keeping timely maintenance and updating of tracking tools.
Ability for travel-both domestic and international.
Other duties as it relates to this position.
Gain knowledge of Supplier Management/Supplier Development/Supplier Assessment.
Assist in performing Market researches/benchmarking.
Gain knowledge of Risk Management (e.g. adjust commodity strategy based on results/analysis).
Help establish commodity strategy based on company/division target and requirements.
Support Buyers by helping to identify potential costs savings and perform cost reduction actions (cost down projects, etc.).
Essential Skills and Experience:
Enrolled in a graduate / undergraduate degree at an accredited university.
Excellent verbal, math and written skills.
Computer/software knowledge including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project.
Ability to prioritize and schedule daily tasks, manage time effectively.
Willingness to work in a team environment.
Handle multiple activities simultaneously and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Team focused, outgoing, flexible, and motivated.
Interest in Automotive industry.
Working knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
SAP experience a plus but not necessary.
