About the Ionion Center
The Ionion Ce nte r for the Arts & Culture is an internationally recognized educational
and cultural institution dedicated to the advancement of contemporary arts, higher
education, scientific research, and intercultural dialogue.
For decades, the Center has welcomed artists, acade mics, researchers, university
departments, and cultural organizations from around the world, providing an environment
where creative practice, education, and research meet through international collaboration.
Located in the village of M e taxata on the Greek island of Ke falonia , the Center offers a
unique setting in the heart of the Mediterranean. The Ionian Islands have historically
served as a cultural crossroads connecting Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the
wider world, making the Cente r an exceptional place for artistic creation, intellectual
exchange, and cultural engagement.
Each year, from May through October, the Cen ter hosts an extensive program of
international exhibitions , artist residencies, lectures, concerts, workshops, perfor mances,
university courses, conferences, and research activities.
The internship program offers participants the opportunity to become active members of
this international environment while gaining valuable professional experience in arts
administration, c ultural production, communication, and event management.

Internship Areas
Internships are available between M ay and Octobe r for periods of 1-2–3 months or 1–5
months , depending on the applicant's university or personal requirements and
availability.

1. Technical Production & M ultimedia
T his internship is designed for applicants with an interest in audiovisual
technologies , open events and exhibition s production.
Responsibilit ies include:
• Installation and operation of professional projection, lighting and sound sys tems.
• Technical support during exhibitions , concerts, screenings and performances.
• Preparation and installation of exhibition spaces and studios.
• Safe handling, maintenance and storage of audiovisual equipment.
• Photography and audiovisual documentation of events.
• Multimedia production and editing.
2. Cultural M anagement & International Programmes
Interns participate in the daily operation of an international cultural institution, working
alongside artists, academics, researchers, and visiting university groups.
Typical responsibilit ies include:
• Assisting with the organization of exhibitions, concerts, conferences, workshops,
lectures, performances and educational programmes.
• Welcoming and supporting international artists, researchers and academic guests.
• Coordina ting daily program activities.
• Assisting with visitor relations and hospitality.
• Translatin g artists' statements, program material and institutiona l texts.
• Supporting communication with universities and international partners.

3. Communication, M arketing & Digital M edia
This internship is suitable for students interested in cultural communication and digital
content production.
Responsibilit ies may include:
• Social media management.
• Website and digital content maintenance.
• Graphic design of posters, flyers and promotional material.
• Photography and video documentation.
• Video editing and multimedia production.
• Digital archiving of exhibitions and events.

• Assisting with marketing campaigns and institutiona l communication.
Applicants with experience in photogra phy, filmmaking or graphic design are especially
encouraged to apply.

4. Facilities, Hospitality & Cultural Operations
The successful operation of an international cultural centre depends on teamwork and
respect for shared spaces.
Interns assist with:
• M aintaining the presentation and cleanliness of exhibition areas, studios,
amphitheater and outdoor spaces.
• Caring for the gardens and surrounding environment.
• Preparing spaces before and after cultural events.
• Supporting hospitalit y during receptions, meal s and institutional gatherings.
• Assisting with the safe storage and management of professional equipment.

Knowledge of Greek is not required.
Applicants should normally be unde r 35 ye ars of age .

Location: Metaxata, Kefalonia, Greece
Pe riod: May – October

Duration: 1-2–3 months or 1 –5 months
Salary: €0 gross per month (unpaid internship)
Accommodation and meals are provided by the Ionion Center.
