The Professorship for Applied Ethics at the University of Passau invites applications for the position of a
Doctoral Researcher
for immediate start.
This is a part-time position, amounting to 0.65 full time equivalent (FTE) for a term of 36 month.
Duties and responsibilities
The focus of your work is on conducting a research project on Moral Hallucinations in the DFG priority programme „Robust Assessment & Safe Applicability of Language Modelling: Foundations for a New Field of Language Science & Technology“ (LaSTing) at the intersection of ethical argumentation theory and applied ethics of AI in close cooperation with computer linguistics.
Further duties and responsibilities include:
- independent research activities and publications
- editorial management of publication projects
- organization of events
- organizational and administrative support for the professorship in carrying out the research project
Qualifications
- a master’s degree in philosophy or a related field relevant to the research project
- a strong interest in research and topics in practical philosophy, with a focus on questions questions of general and applied ethics and/or argumentation theory
- excellent language skills in English and a good command of German (demonstrated, for example, through study abroad experiences or language certificates)
- initial experience in organizing and conducting events in university settings
- organizational skills and good project management
- initial experience in managing externally funded projects, as well as initial experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, is an advantage
