For our Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven we want to recruit a qualified
Analysis, Development and Validation Environment
Your mission:
We are looking to recruit a research associate for the area of “Analysis, Development and Validation Environment” in the Resilience of Maritime Systems Department at our Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven.
The Department of Resilience of Maritime Systems develops analysis methods and assessment criteria that enable the measurement and description of the achieved degree of resilience in complex systems. The findings are used to create new security concepts that enable a technological and systematic organisation of infrastructure according to the principle of resilience-by-design. System optimisation during the design phase is based on the integral appreciation of complementary security objectives in the areas of simple operational safety, advanced operational safety and protection from attack. In this regard, factors such as economic efficiency, legal implementation and the societal acceptance of planned measures must be considered.
Your mission:
- conceptual development, creation and operation of the ‘Analysis, Development and Validation Environment’ (ADVE) for the analysis and design of resilient maritime infrastructures
- development of a test database, acquisition of relevant data and creation of test scenarios for the ADVE
- development and implementation of graphical user interfaces for the configuration and monitoring of in-house ADVE modelling, analysis, simulation and design tools
- participation in projects and independent implementation of research and development projects to adapt/extend the ADVE to project-specific requirements
Your qualifications:
- completed relevant academic studies (university Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in Computer Science or Information Technology, or in an engineering-related field (e.g. Electrical Engineering), with related professional experience in IT
- extensive knowledge of software engineering and development with C/C++, .Net, Java, Rust, Python under Linux and Windows environments and with git
- analytical and creative thinking when solving complex operational problems
- at least several years of professional experience and specialised knowledge of conceptual and algorithm-based development of tools for simulation, development, optimisation, design, analysis and verification preferable in the area of system security and/or risk management
- within these fields, experience of developing/programming these tools, including the assigned configuration, control and visualisation modules
- good oral and written skills in English and preferable as well in german
- strong communication and cooperation skills, ability to work in a team, persuasiveness, assertiveness and a confident manner
- interest in modelling and maritime issues
